Populazzi by Elise Allen

                         Populazzi

"Cara has never been one of those girls: confident, self-possessed, and always ready with the perfect thing to say. A girl at the very top of the popularity tower. One of the Populazzi.
Now, junior year could change everything. Cara’s moving to a new school, and her best friend urges her to seize the moment—with the help of the Ladder. Its rungs are relationships, and if Cara transforms into the perfect girlfriend for guys ever-higher on the tower, she’ll reach the ultimate goal: Supreme Populazzi.
The Ladder seems like a lighthearted social experiment, a straight climb up, but it quickly becomes gnarled and twisted. And when everything goes wrong, only the most audacious act Cara can think of has a chance of setting things even a little bit right."

At first i thought it would be another one of those Middle Grade flics about war between the Queen B and school looser.. But i gave it a shot nevertheless! It, I must say, was a super read! I liked it a lot.
The beginning had me hooked...it starts of with Cara being herself and enjoying the company of the "Happy Hopeless" and then she inevitably reaches the Supreme Poppulazzi click. What i was looking forward to was weather she would stand up and be herself of succumb to Poppulazzi behavior?
Cara has a chance to start all over with her social life when she joins a new school! Leaving behind her bestie Claudia and her old school! Claudia has a plan- a How to climb the social ladder guide!
Throughout the book Cara is torn between Ladder climbing and damaging friendship....
The end was almost predictable but still kept me glued to the book! Elise Allen tried extremely hard to avoid making a typical high-school-social-dilemma-scene! The occasional stereotypical behavior came in but the character were still fresh. But the teens in here are quite an up-ed version since it will be published this year i.e. Facebook involvement; and also behavior and thought process wise- they're dumbness is not obvious!! You actually have a dilemma when you read and both sides can be justified!
My favorite character in the entire book was Archer Jain- Cara's first crush at her new school! He is a sweetie and sounds like buckets of fun! :)
I would give this book a 3 and 1/2 on 5!
Engaging story line

Fresh and fun characters
Cute but simple cover (i like her chain)!
