Book People# Noah Zarc- Meet the brain child of D.Pease

Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble

Hello and welcome to today's show at Assortments.
Today I am going to be pretending to be an interviewer on a show called
Book People! :D

On today's show we have Noah Zarc, the 12 year time-travelling hero from Dr Robert Pease's debut novel, named after him:
Noah Zarc!!
If you click on the image of the book above, you can find the review on Goodreads.
Moving on with the show....
Lets us begin our character interview with Noah...

To start of with, could you tell us a bit about yourself?
Umm... I'm not sure what to say. I love piloting ships. I love time-travel. My sister annoys me (most of the time). My dog's the coolest animal I know. I love PB&J sandwiches. Basically I'm just like any other kid.

*laughs* Indeed! I do recall the fact that your parents are Martians...So what was life like on Mars before you moved to the ARC?
I actually never lived on Mars. My mom and dad started the ARC project before I was born, so I've lived my entire life in space, on the ship. I have visited Mars a couple of times, but I'm not crazy about it. Earth is much better.

Aw, being an Earthling I am truly touched. You must stop by for some PB and J sandwiches at my place sometime on one of your time travelling trips! So where  were we...ah yes...
From the looks of your Mammoth Trouble Adventure you're quite the pilot! Tell us more about it. When and how did you learn to fly ships?
I tell you. There's NOTHING better than piloting. I don't care what kind of ship. I don't care if it's in space, or in the atmosphere of a planet, I just can't get enough of it. My mom says it's 'cause I can't use my legs. She says it is how I can feel free. I also have an advantage because of my neural implant--that's a thing in my brain that lets me control my magchair, umm... a wheelchair without the wheels. I can actually connect directly to the computer of a ship and control it with my brain. I know, cool right! I started out playing holo games, and loved any game that had to do with flying. My older brother, Hamilton figured out how to tie our game system into my neural implant and I was hooked. My dad saw how good I was and got me some time in a flight simulator on Mars. Everyone said I was a natural. I flew my first real ship, the Morning Star, when I was eight.

Being on the ARC being an animal lover goes without saying, tell us more about this passion of yours?
Well you are right. I had no choice in the matter. It's either love animals or be miserable. We've got hundreds, if not thousands of them on the ARC. It's a lot of work too. I help take care of them. My favorite part is when Mom has to care for a sick animal. She lets me help out. We had a lion with a serious upset stomach once. I got to hold his paw while Mom gave him a shot. Of course he was knocked out with a trancle... with a trankal... with a dart before I was allowed anywhere near him.

Random questions round:

Your favorite animal?
Somebody asked me this not too long ago. And I still stick with my answer. It's definitely my dog, Obadiah. I know that's kind of silly, with all the animals we have, but he's my closest friend. I've had him since I was a kid.

Your favorite spaceship?
Without a doubt it'd be the Morning Star. Like I said earlier, it was the first ship I got to fly. I know it's not anywhere near as amazing as the ARC, but I don't even think of her as a ship as much as she's just my home. The Morning Star on the other hand is amazing. I can go faster in her than any other ship we have. And in an atmosphere, she handles like a dream.

If you were stuck on Planet Earth with nothing but Obadiah and a lifetime supply PB & J sandwiches; would you wish for a rescue or be at peace?
Of course I'd miss Mom and Dad. And Hamilton. And even my sister, Sam. But yeah, it'd be pretty cool. Could I still have the Morning Star? I guess that would shoot the whole "stuck on Planet Earth" thing to pieces. Hmm... If I couldn't fly. That's a hard one then. I love it when I'm on Earth. It is so alive. So green. The smells are amazing. And the blue sky. You just can't imagine how blue it can be. Well I guess maybe you could, since you live there all the time. But man, it's nothing like Mars, that's for sure. So what was the question? Oh yeah stuck on Earth. Nah, I don't think I could do it. I'd go crazy not being able to fly through space, and especially jump through time.

If you could communicate with your creator- Dr Pease, what would you tell him?
Who? Is he one of Mom's old teachers? He must be pretty smart if he's a Dr. It'd probably be like talking with Hamilton, so I think the conversation would be pretty short. And did you say creator? What's that all about?

You are quite the adventurer, now that the Mammoth Trouble has been taken care of, do you have another mission in mind?
Well, Dad said something about taking a vacation on Mars when this is all over. I'm not sure I like that idea. I think I'd go crazy pretty quick. But I guess it'd be nice to spend some time with Gramps, that's Dad's dad. Hey, maybe I could look up that Draben kid. But yeah, I think I'd last about two weeks, before I'd be ready for some new adventure. I just hope I can keep from getting into too much trouble.

On that note. We come to a close of our time on Book People. Thank you so much for stopping by for this interview. Hope you have a great time at your gramp's. See ya around.

D. Robert PeaseTHE AUTHOR
 D. Robert Pease has been interested in creating worlds since childhood. From building in the sandbox behind his house, to drawing fantastical worlds with paper and pencil, there has hardly been a time he hasn't been off on some adventure in his mind, to the dismay of parents and teachers alike. Also, since the moment he could read, books have consumed vast swaths of his life. From The Mouse and the Motorcycle, to The Lord of the Rings, worlds just beyond reality have called to him like Homer's Sirens. It's not surprising then he chose to write stories of his own. Each filled with worlds just beyond reach, but close enough we can all catch a glimpse of ourselves in the characters.

  5. I loved the interview, BW. Noah Zarc sounds so believable and so little like you! I can't but help marvel at how well you've managed to portray his character. It really sounds like an interview with someone you met rather than an imagined interview with a fictional person. Reading the interview makes me want to read the book too...:))
