Monthly Theme Post- February

is something like a monthly meme. Every month Sophistique Noir picks out a theme out of a magic hat and we all do a series of themed post across the blogoverse! The last time I did one these was in October (last year) on Lace! :)

February- Rings <3
I'm surprised its not something lov-ey and heart-y, considering V-day is round the corner!
This months theme I LOVE, not only because I suggested (hehe, self praise?! I know I know. I am just super excited- the random joy of "being picked!") but also because I have a huge thing for them. I don't own all that many, but its a growing collection.

Some ring trivia:

I found an explanation for the 4th finger being the chosen for a wedding ring on Wikipedia.
Apparently old beliefs tracing back to Ancient Rome, state that the left hand's ring finger is directly to the heart: the vena amoris or vein of love!
Just like flowers, sometimes different types of rings signify different things. Oh the joys of culture diversity! Click here to view a Wiki-list.

this ring is my very own which I wear on my index finger all the time! Its has a story behind it, for another day perhaps. I took this one during a photo shoot of an experiment with sugar syrup. Those drops around it are all sugar drops on butter paper. :)
Mood ring theory:
A mood ring works on the principle of a thermochromic element, such as a liquid crystal. The ring changes color according to body temperature, and hence indicating one's "mood". How does that work?
The theory behind this claim is that the temperature of a body fluctuates with the emotion of the wearer.
If that piqued your interest, and you want more detail go here...

  1. I love love love that first ring, the one with all the leaves! It's gorgeous and also kind of bad-ass. Perfect :-)

  5. The first ring is a more ladylike take on the typical armor ring (and looks more comfortable!). I really enjoyed the Wiki list of all the different types of rings.

Thanks for suggesting (and joining in!) this wonderful theme! I think it was a big hit with my readers. :)
