How to judge a movie by its trailer? #3

The title

Pretty straight forward. A possibly romantic story or of a strong friendship that is mixed race?

Piqued my interest nonetheless.

Cast

Money Penny from James Bond is Queen, like d-uh! She is prime for such elegant, women in power kind of roles it seems like. Also the kind that are a bit quirky like your grandmother.

Ali Fazal from Bobby Jasoos? According to IMDB he is in a bunch of off-beat movies I haven't watched but I definitely recognize his face. I also love how he is gently breaking into Hollywood. He also made an appearence in Fast Seven as a wealthy Arab.

Description

The extraordinary true story of an unexpected friendship in the later years of Queen Victoria’s (Academy Award winner Judi Dench) remarkable rule. When Abdul Karim (Ali Fazal), a young clerk, travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, he is surprised to find favor with the Queen herself. As the Queen questions the constrictions of her long-held position, the two forge an unlikely and devoted alliance with a loyalty to one another that her household and inner circle all attempt to destroy. As the friendship deepens, the Queen begins to see a changing world through new eyes and joyfully reclaims her humanity.

Plot

The description fills in all the gaps left behind by the trailer and helped put into context all the stills that were picked to depict a linear progression in the plot, along with an obvious twist that is addressed both by the trailer and characters.

Setting

Its a period film shot when the British used to own real estate in the global market, so lots of elaborate costumes and period speak in an attempt to adhere to the time code. Its also interesting because this is a lesser told story from history. There was another film shot on a relationship the Queen had with a Scottish dude and now a timely topic- colored race relations. It seems like Queen Victoria, the Empress of India, truly did enjoy the appreciate she ruled over. But I don't want to get ahead of myself...

Judged

Its comes out in two months. Hopefully I would have remembered watching this trailer by then. The plot is more or less revealed in the trailer, so no real suspense there. Maybe I might watch it for Ali Fazal's acting. Not sure. Oh also it is based on a true story. (Photo credit in the same link)
