Day 4- Favorite book of your favorite series

Day 04 – Favorite book of your favorite series

I couldn't pick just one for this question..I was torn between Samit Basu's Simoquin Prophecies and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter!! I was also debating about adding Shopaholic but I liked them all so i decided to leave that series out of the question all together!Tough to pick just one!!

“Highlight one book you have received this week (for review, from the library, purchased at the store, etc.) that you can’t wait to dig into!”
I won this book at a giveaway. I received it sometime last week and still haven't started because a) its the 2nd book in series! *boo hoo* and b) I have a TBR pile for Lit class. Nevertheless I still cant wait to dig in!!!!

Day 2- A Book You Have Read More than thrice

Day2-A Book That You Have Read More than thrice
Ahhh!! This was hard, because i usually never re-read books! I just don't,even if its a favorite, though i came very close to re-reading Twilight (out of desperation because i was stuck indoors on a holiday with no other book to read!) But when i was a kid i recall reading Enid Blyton's Ugly Old Scarecrow several times. I won it as a prize for dancing and I guess i read it so much that it fell apart and now i can't remember  where it went! :/

Day 1- The Best Book You Read Last Year

Day1- The Best Book You Read Last Year
Well, I can't quite re-call all the books I read last year because I only actively started keeping track towards the end of 2010. From my Goodreads shelf, i picked out two i liked the most-  Surrender by Sonya Hartnett and Up On Cloud Nine by Anne Fine Now between the two...hmmm... I would go with Up On Cloud Nine!! It was funny and an interesting read, very abstract sort of story line...Here is my review for it..

Introducing - A 30 Day Book Meme..

"Memes are fun! Well, some of them are at least.  That's why I've decided to participate in this one!"
Especially since its a 30 days meme!
The idea sounded fascinating..I found it on a blog (whose title I can't re-call but i promise to put it up once i do! ); this blog in turn led to me to another blog. The original source of the meme starter i could not trace. But i assume somebody came up with the concept and Chimneys and Magic decided to run one of her own.
I will try my level best to be regular..because you know thats the fun of the 30 day meme- 30 days of posting... The specifics such as beginning date etc seem very vague.. So I am going to go with what i can understand.. And make up some rules for myself.. I will post One day at a time..(I know i missed Day 1 and 2 but still..) The original blogger (in my case) seems to have stopped after Day I am further baffled with this meme..). But I will keep it going on mine...  Since its all loosely done..maybe i can a…

Harry Potter is over...*wail*

I watched the premier show for this movie sometime last week and I loved it! I hoped to re-read the book before watching it so i can grumble about what they skipped and what they altered, but I never managed to get the time! So I just watched it as it is and I enjoyed! The last movie seemed longer than the rest to me.
The last part- Deathly Hallows seemed incomplete to me. In these it seemed like the focus was only on Harry, Hermoine and Ron and even more on just Harry. It is the focus in the books too, but so is other stuff and the setting. The movie seemed so closed and confined to just the three of them. I kept looking out for not related to  them scenes. The movie didn't seem to indulge in the setting or the newly introduced characters-i.e . Luna Lovegood or perhaps Snape as prinicpal etc. Or stuff like Dumbledore's history or preparation of Voldermort's army. It seemed like the directors was suddenly just focused on hocrux recovery and Voldy's death.
Despite all thi…

Populazzi by Elise Allen

"Cara has never been one of those girls: confident, self-possessed, and always ready with the perfect thing to say. A girl at the very top of the popularity tower. One of the Populazzi. Now, junior year could change everything. Cara’s moving to a new school, and her best friend urges her to seize the moment—with the help of the Ladder. Its rungs are relationships, and if Cara transforms into the perfect girlfriend for guys ever-higher on the tower, she’ll reach the ultimate goal: Supreme Populazzi. The Ladder seems like a lighthearted social experiment, a straight climb up, but it quickly becomes gnarled and twisted. And when everything goes wrong, only the most audacious act Cara can think of has a chance of setting things even a little bit right."
At first i thought it would be another one of those Middle Grade flics about war between the Queen B and school looser.. But i gave it a shot nevertheless! It, I must say, was a super read! I liked it a lot. The beginning had me hook…

Read-a-Thon...Wrap-up post

The Read-a-thon officially ended yesterday or early this morning around 12 am.! It was soo much fun and little stressful for me!*hehe* I did not achieve my ambitious goal of 3 books instead I managed only 1 big fat book.

There hasn't been an official post for the wrap-up. Until I am making my own and linking it to my original post!

This was the second annual Read-a-Thon hosted by Lori @Pure Imagination, Candace @Candace's Blogand Angel @Reading Angel! My goal- 3 books I finished one book and a half Page count- 1046 (1+ 1/2 book) If halves don't count then my page count is 746 I read: The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson

Thank you guys- Candace, Angel and Lori for hosting!! :)

Its Friday..I'm making a confession..

This Friday's Question:
Blogger Confession: What's the last book you could not finish?  (or had a hard time finishing?)

I still haven't finish reading it! I've been reading for the past two months now!! (Can you believe it?!) I have this habit if finishing books however miserable they are unless i own the book. For some reason i go on a guilt trip thinking it would have gotten better eventually. hehe!Does that happen to you?  This is my first Salman Rushdie book and the back flap sounded fascinating to me, but i find some of the content heavy and harsh, but that is not why I haven't finished it. The story is just so loopy and beats around the bush like crazy, it like he has a two page story to tell but Rushdie has gone into every little characters history to make this a fat novel. I've got about 1/4 to go, i decided to push myself till i can't handle it..! :P But I there was this other book which i didn't bother with finishing- The White Mughals by William D…

Baby I was Born This Way...

That is grotesquely beautiful!  I like her facial make-up even though the outfit gives my stomach a funny nudge!

Lady Gaga is out with her third studio album after Fame and Fame Monster! Born this Way was released on the 23rd of May 2011!
All three of her albums are different! The other day, a couple of my friends and I were discussing how after a point all artists and bands develop a monotony which distinguished them. Not Gaga! Every song of her is different( with the exception of her first album in which the last few tracks began sounding almost the same!). Either she hasn't reached the stage where her music has become monotonous or she is just not going too!
The Fame was her debut where she launched herself into the industry. The Fame Monster made is clear and established the fact that Gaga's taste are unique and will get bolder by the look! Born This Way explores her absurd sense furthermore.
This album has a lot more electronic beats in her tracks and a lot of them seem to b…
